    Piece of Garbage
Two earbuds for $8. Tell you anything???????

These headphones are a piece of garbage. A waste at even $4 a piece.

The sound quality is terrible. They fit largely in the ears. But the worst part is that the foam covers fall off every two seconds.

I have warn these things twice and already see me buying a better pair in days. Don’t waste your money….I swear the people giving this a good review must work for Koss.

    Decent headphones
The sound quality from these headphones are outstanding, but the foam covers easily fall off upon using. Not bad for the price and sound great.

    Not worth the money
Only good thing on these is the price for two. Too big for your ears and sound quality is bad. You get what you pay for.

    Just OK
You get what you pay for. The quality of the sound seems fine, but I cannot get them loud enough to really test them. I bought these for my 2 small children, so that they could listen to their dvd on car trips. They seem to like them ok, although the buds are a little big. But when I tried to listen to music with them, I could barely hear.

    GREAT EAR BUDS
I HAVE BOUGHT THESE EAR BUDS ON 3 DIFFERANT OCCASIONS…FOR MYSELF, MY BOYFRIEND AND MY NEICE. THEY ARE VERY GOOD QUALITY & 2 SETS WITH A CASE FOR UNDER $10 IS THE BARGAIN OF THE YEAR. THE ONLY THING, MY NEICE IS 12 YEARS OLD AND FOUND THEM A LITTLE TOO BIG FOR HER EARS. THEY DON’T STAY IN HER EAR. BUT SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO USE THEM WITH ALL THE PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS & IPODS IN OUR HOME, THEY WON’T GO TO WASTE.

The Big Box of Art 410,000
I have been trying to view images for over an hour, but the “Easy Keyword Search Engine” does not seem to work with my Windows XP. Another reviewer had the same problem. The “Help” information is useless. The manual is only 3 pages long and the size of a CD case and spends more space talking about legal uses of the art than anything of help or value. There is no book, so if the “Easy keyword Viewer” fails to work the clip art discs are worthless. I wish I could rate this ZERO Stars, but one star is the minimum rating. My advice is to spend the extra $40-$50 and get clip art with a book.

    Pretty good for the price
I ordered this box set, opened it and there was no registration card so I could get the serial number to install the software. I didn’t bother to just insert the first disk and sent it back to Amazon for a replacement. Amazon was fast in sending me a replacement, but Encore or Hemera did not respond to me at all. I sent Amazon an email on July 5, they shipped on July 6, I received the new box set on July 9th!

Anyway, when I got the replacement, there was no registration card again. I was slightly frustrated, then I thought to just insert the first CD to see what would happen….it installed without a serial number!

Seems like they would just say that instead of causing their customers a bit of inconvenience of sending the product back to Amazon thinking that the serial number was missing.

I like Hemera, but they could be better with their customer service.

Anyway, so far I am satisfied with the box set, but just wanted everyone to know that you could just install without the use of a serial number.

One thing though, I noticed that while installing, it was saying that it was registering the product. I am not sure if this happened because I have a cable modem and my internet is always on. Basically what I am saying is if the software does not install, turn on your internet to see if it will install.

    Good luck.

Good price, decent graphics, no support
For $[...], I think it’s a pretty good price for 410,000 graphics. However, most of the animations/web graphics are pretty dated looking, and really not very interesting (and are not indexed or searchable). The indexing terms for the database (for the rest of the CDs) is not very good and quite limited, and really they should let you ammend them (I didn’t see any way to do this.) And, you cannot search for terms like “get well”. Much of the graphics are really unusable because they are just so odd or unatractive, uninteresting and quite ridiculous. Some shots, the kid’s eyes aren’t even open, or the quality of the shot is just not there. My take is that they’re definately predominately amateur shots and not professionally art directed shots. It has a lot of cute clip art though. I will have to say I wish everything was on one CD, because swapping out between 11 CDs is cumbersome, even though they say it’s not. I know it’s not possible (yet!) We bought it twice and both times it did not contain the registration card which is supposed to have the serial # on it (we took back the first one because of this.) And in looking on their website, it costs $[...] to get a replacement serial #.. A scam I wonder? No way I could see to email them. Despite all this, for under $[...] (and I see amazon.com has it for $[...] with free shipping now), I still think it’s a fun product for home and maybe some business use.

    AWESOME CLIP-ART
I use this clip-art at work. The selection of art is great. We have several other clip-art collections but I mostly use this one because it is so simple to search for what you need. Some of the photographs that I have wanted to use for backgrounds have been too small to convert to 300 dpi, though. But other than that, I really like this clip-art.

    it’s a scam
it will not work in my Windows XP. I have repeatedly asked for help;no one answers. Finally, I was told to look it up on a databank. If you have nothing but time on your hands maybe this is for you…but if you work for a living, you’ve been had by this company Encoreusa.

    Uncle Milton is bad!
I do not keep hermit crabs, but I know their care requirements and that this is cruel. I am highly dissapointed with uncle milton for the killing of so many animals. All their animal keeping kits do not have what the animal needs.

    Hermit crab home
My crabs love the rock hideaway, and the little pool. They like to dig in the sand. To keep the humidity in I always Get a wet rag and put it on top if the cove. Always yous spring water to fill up the pool. Change the water every day.Put fresh food in every day, and you`ll have happy crabs.

    Not a Suitable Crabitat
A little research goes a long way. First and foremost, you will need an appropriate sized home, with temperature and humidity guages, a heat source, dishes for dechlorinated and salt water, a food dish, structures for climbing and hiding, and enough substrate for your crabs to bury themselves for molting. They are great pets but not as simple to care for as you may have been led to believe. As you should do before getting any pet, spend some time reading up on their proper care. It’s well worth the effort - I’m fairly new to hermit crab keeping (about a year now) but I find them to be thoroughly enjoyable.

    Pet torture chamber
This isn’t a hermit crab habitat. It is an abusive, hermit crab torture chamber. Without proper humidity control the crab’s gills (no lungs) dry out and the crab has difficulty breathing. These animals can live over 30 years, but a crab is unlikely to last even 6 months in this home.

In order to grow, a hermit crab burrows into the ground, makes a little cave, sheds its exoskeleton, regains its strength, and returns to the surface. Why get a pet if you don’t care enough about it to provide its basic needs?

Hermit crabs are not toys! THis is cruel!!! -100 stars
We have researched and studied land hermit crabs biology, natural history and care and keeping for over 16 years and I can tell you this is NOT something that a responsible pet owner would even think of getting. There is no way to keep the humidity or temperature withing the proper ranges! 75%-85% relative humidity and 76-82 degrees F and also there is NOT enough space for even one crab in there they need at least 2 gallons of tank space per crab! Plus they are also known as tree crabs this provided no climbing are for them.

The very smallest accpetable space for 1-5 land hermit crabs is a 10 Gallon glass tank with lid and lights! They need 4inches of play sand or moist coco-fiber in which to dig and burry, they must have the temp and humdity within range or they will die! They do not ahve lungs but modified gills!

PLease PLease Do what is right and just and do not purchase this gimmick!!!

    Customer Reviews:
    Cutting corners
I too purchased this machine with great trepidation. I’ve had my White for almost 15 years which I love dearly. I decided to try the Singer because the cover stitch would be (I thought) a real time-saver.

Well, aside from the other comments above, I do not like the fact that there are no numbers for tension adjustment - you just “guess” - maybe I’m too picky but I like to have my tension exact so I get a good solid stitch. My White tells you what the tension should be for each needle and looper for the different stitches.

Secondly, I do not like the fact that I cannot access the left side of the machine. I finally figured out the lever system that threads the loopers that are not visible, but I found myself very leery of this system since if something goes wrong, well, who knows? You can’t see inside. Plus, how can you really get the lint out of that area?

In addition, every time I changed the plastic plate for cover stitch or to use the knife, I felt like any one of the tabs (on the plastic covers) was going to break off!

Anyway, I returned it because I just couldn’t see paying $600 for one stitch - the cover stitch.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would make a dedicated cover stitch machine at around $200? Or if you could add the pieces to make your existing serger have the cover stitch as an attachment? They do it on embroidery machines, so why not sergers?

I just think Singer could have done a better job - more professional, more informative (as others have said - no CD or video), and sturdier.

Really Nice Serger If You Give It A Chance
I purchased this serger because of the coverstitch capability. I currently have a 2/3/4 serger and find I don’t use it as much as I could because of issues with set up and tension. I took a chance on the Quantumlock and am very happy with it.

I received the serger and studied the manual, which is none too great. Terminology is confusing and not explained or displayed really well. I did download the manual and Workbook from the Singer website. This is a must. First of all, with a second copy of the manual you can make all the notes you need where you need them without ruining the included manual. The Workbook is invaluable. The machine came threaded for the coverstich so I started there. I have been practicing each stitch by using the workbook and so far, all has been fine. The times I have had a problem was due to user error and not the machine, ie - I had the wrong needle placement when trying to do the chainstitch. If you take you time, it really works well.

Also, one other point in regard to threading the loopers. I had difficulty in threading the lower looper (red) because I was unable to see the thread assist lever as it is right at the edge of the inside of the machine, once I discovered where it was, it correctly places the thread every time. The tweezers are invaluable and although I think Singer could come up with a finer pointed pair of tweezers, these do work adequately. Become familiar with the threading, use the workbook and you will find a serger that does a really good job. Auto Tension works very well.

I have not had a problem with fabric thickness, the presser foot seems to handle it all very well.

Be patient with the learning curve and you will really enjoy all it can do.

The Quantumlock comes with the frustration built in.
I received this serger as a Christmas gift (2006) from my loving husband, who only wanted me to own the best, top-of-the-line overlock machine. Today is January 10, 2007 and I still haven’t figured out how to thread it. I spent 3 hours at the mom-and-pop sewing center this week with an employee, the store’s “expert” on the Quantumlock. She was able to turn out two different types of stitches but was unable to show me more because she too could not figure out how to thread the machine.

I am an expert seamstress; I have been sewing for 41 years and used to be an editor for a company that produces quilting books, so I certainly have spent a lot of time behind a sewing machine. Never have I seen a sewing machine so poorly designed as this one. It is darn near impossible to thread. The gears/hardware through which you have to pass the thread are so small and so close together that it is impossible to thread without using tweezers. But once you thread it (if you can–I’ve yet been able to) you have to unthread (parts of) it to do particular stitches, which means inevitably you’ll have to go through the agony of rethreading later.

There’s more. It does not have a swing arm that opens with a hinge so that you can access the left side of the threading area. This means you’re looking into darkness while you try to thread the left side and it also means there’s no area for your fingers to fit into to thread it. (So what are you supposed to do? Thread it with a toothpick in your mouth?) Further, changing the needles is awkward because the needle area sits so far below eye level. The store employee tipped the machine over and had me balance it, suspended, while she changed the needle, which of course means it takes two people to change a needle. AND you have to change the needle often because the various stitches you may want to use require you to do so.

The sewing foot lifts barely 1/4″ upward from the throat plate, which makes it hard to place even thin fabric under it. I tried to put a piece of elastic over a very skinny piece of nylon fabric (like the type a woman’s slip is made of) and had to tug and tug to get it to fit. Forget trying to sew medium or heavy fabrics with this machine.

My husband paid $600 for this machine but it did not come with a video or CD to help the customer learn how to operate it.

I give the Quantumlock two stars, the only positive thing I can say about it, because it is designed to do everything. But if you have never used an overlock you will be frustrated by the complexity of this machine. Every time you start another sewing project, or change your stitch parameters, you will have to go through a long, annoying process to reconfigure your machine. I am returning mine to the store next week.

Machine is strong but complex - not recommended for beginner sewers
I think the machine itself is solid and works well when threaded properly. With 5 threads, you get all the stitches that can possibly be had on a serger. Additionally, I liked the one button tension setting. As with all 5-thread mechanical sergers, setup and threading can be challenging. If you have not used a serger before, there is a definite learning curve. Practice on scraps to start. Patience and close attention to the instruction details will be well rewarded with new skills and fine results with the least amount of frustration..

If patience and detail are not your thing, consider a simpler, less capable serger - something with fewer threads. As with most machines, the more it can do, the more complex the setup. To help you decide what machine to buy, I recommend getting Singer’s “The New Sewing with a Serger” book for a good over view and guide. If possible, consider visiting a local dealer to actually touch and try out. the machine.

However, I have to agree with the previous reviewer regarding Singer’s documentation for this machine. The original instruction booklet that comes packaged with this unit is sorely lacking and is organized more as an occasional reference rather than a teaching tool. Even so, it leaves out important details and could have been better organized — that is why I gave this serger 4 stars rather than 5. For better and far more detailed instructions, go to Singer’s website (www.singerco.com). It is a free download.

I am still experimenting with all of the functions of my machine but here are some tips that may help you get started

    (1) Be prepared to take your time with the instructions to get acquainted. In the end, it will save you time. Defintely get the enhanced documentation from Singerco.com and use that to setup and thread your machine.

    (2) At first, I found the terminology more intimidating than it actually is. I recommend having a reference book on hand such as “The New Sewing with a Serger” to help.. Hang in there - once you thread and sew on this serger the first time, things will start to make more sense.

    (4) Start with a simple 2 thread stitch such as the double chain. This stitch must start and end in the fabric. Success is conquering the machine setup, threading and needle placement. Add more threaded, complicated stitches as you become more familiar with the setup & threading paths. Remember to remove the needle threads before you make changes in the looper threads.

Note: For easier threading, you will find that you can slip the thread from the bottom of most of the metal hooks in the looper part of the serger. Use tweezers as needed.

    (5) Always thread loopers first, then thread needles last. Otherwise, your threads will get jammed up before you are ready to sew. (General order: Loopers: Green, Red, Brown, and Needles: Orange, Blue)

    (6) After you complete threading a single looper, be sure to pull about 4 inches of thread up through the opening and toward the back of the machine before going on to the next one. Repeat individually for each looper as required.

    (7) Triple check machine setup, needle position and threading against the diagram in the machine and documentation before sewing. This part goes pretty quickly after the first couple of successes.

    (8) Use an inexpensive, clean, medium sized makeup brush to quickly clean out lint and threads after each use. It is bigger and it does a better job than the small brush included in the box.

Hope these tips helps. I will update these comments as my experience with this serger grows.

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD, SINGER!
I recieved this serger as a gift. There was no demo tape included. For $599, I would expect some type of colorful presentation to get you started. It had a boring tedious manual with it. I found the machine impossible to thread with the instructions given in the booklet. The only way I can make this serger work is to put the front needle threads down through the pressure foot hole (while back needle treads are pulled under the bridge toward the back)… AND the brown looper thread has to be feed up through the pressure foot plate where the front needles insert. This is exteremely awkward, time consuming, requires tweezers, magnifying glasses and a lamp…and seems wrong! But, it works. I feel I am circumventing something, but I dont’ know what. I have purchased three books from Amazon(one by Singer which unknown to me did not include this lastest model serger) as well as gone on line to Singer web site only to end up in frustration. Finally I had to consult with the husband (engineer) who spent hours figuring out the treading with a mine lamp on his head as well as a magnifying visor. GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD SINGER. There is no light inside the looper case. All threads, but especially black threads are hard to see. You have to be a contorsionist to thread this machine. They left no room for your hands either. The tweezers are cheap and you use them all the time. They are point noose tweezers so that your grasp must be exact on a thread. There needs to be a longer gripping surface to the tweezers in the tool kit. I rated this machine a two because once (40 hours later) you figure out the threading (if you ever do)the machine runs smoothly and quietly and does a nice hemmed edge. I still have not figured out how to hem a circle (ie hem of a pant leg) as the cutting knife, being in front of the stiches, starts clipping off the threads you just put it. You could spiral forever. I don’t like how a serger leaves a chain of thread behind which you have to glue or tuck in behind edging threads with another needle (not in the kit). I did learn never to lift the pressure foot unil you chain off about 8 inches of thread at the end of a seam or the thread will break, but ….I could go on and on. DEMO VIDEO PLEASE!

    Customer Reviews:
Please do NOT waste your money!
I bought this item based on various reviews here and on other sites. Usually, when the majority of reviews lean one way, I find they tend to be correct. This time? WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

This veggie cutter is a cheap piece of CR*P! It may be ok if all you want to cut are soft veggies, but if you want to cut potatoes for french fries, dont bother unless you want to blow $20 plus shipping. Mine lasted less than 2 months before it fell apart. A complete waste of my money. I had high hopes based upon reviews I had read on this product, but I was lead down the (potato) garden path. Cutting potatoes (the main reason I bought this) is quite a chore. I had to place it on the floor on a towel to get really good leverage to enable me to cut my potatoes. The main product is plastic and the working parts were less than sturdy steel rods. I am really disappointed with this product. If you are planning on cutting potatoes or other hard veggies, then please do not waste your money. Many people rated this item very high in their reviews. I really cant believe these people cut potatoes with this. This product just IS NOT sturdy enough for that job!! I write this review in hopes that I can save others from throwing their money away searching for a good french fry cutter. If you choose to ignore my warning and it breaks on you (which it will… sooner or later… probably sooner), yes, that will be me you hear saying “I told you so”. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

    Nice and big
Years ago I bought a potato cutter at a garage sale. It was all steel and a good size (accepting virtually any potato without cutting it down to size). I’ve been very happy with it.

Recently we bought a cabin so needed to add a second set of kitchen tools. One of the items we decided we wanted was a second potato cutter. I ordered this one because of the “jumbo” in the name hoping that it would work as well as our previous garage sale cutter.

Thankfully, this product lives up to the jumbo name. It’s larger than our garage sale cutter by 20% or so. It is easy to use and clean up. Not to mention it has a suction cup to attach it to the counter which works surprisingly well.

Pros: Large with two sizes of cutting blades; a larger mesh for traditional fries and smaller mesh for McDonald-like fries.

Cons: It’s plastic and steel which makes me wonder about longevity.

All-in-all, I think this was a good purchase.

    Update

My wife loves this vegetable cutter and has asked me to order another! She has used ours at least twice a week since we recieved it in Aug 2005 and has had no difficulties with it at all. I’m surprised to see that another purchaser has had problems with this product. Perhaps they received a defective one? At any rate, I would still recommend the product.

    Customer Reviews:
    Love it!!
I saw this desk last year around Christmas but didn’t buy it because I already spent too much on gifts. I finally bought it and am so happy I did. My son didn’t like to sit and do projects (he’s 3 1/2) but once we got this desk he finally started sitting and looking at “workbooks”, he also loves to play with toys, playdough, etc. at this desk. He loves it because I can sit in a chair at the desk also and play with him comfortably. I’m 135 pounds and can sit easily on one of the chairs that go with this desk (but I’m short). It’s durable, attractive and a good size for him. We did get a small stain on it from a marker that won’t come off so I’d recommend a placemat or something for messier projects. The item arrived in perfect condition and was really easy to put together. The chairs fit well under the table and don’t take up extra room. I would highly recommend this item!

    Wonderful Table
The quality of this table is superb. It is very strong and sturdy. I was tired of wasting my money of poorly made tables.

My son is 5YO and slightly tall for his age. He sits at the table with plenty of room for growth. This was a great investment because it will last for many years to come.

As mentioned by other reviewers the color of the wood pretty much coordinates with anything.

    Top Quality
I purchased this table for my 15 month-old daughter to practice standing and walking now and later, for play and crafts. I work at a Montessori school and this table is as sturdy, heavy and strong as those we purchase for the classrooms from specialized Montessori catalogs at twice the price. I think my daughter will have one this for a very long time.

Little Tykes Mission Design Wood Table
This was the best! It arrived in perfect condition and 1,2,3 we had it together. Quality of wood is great. All you need is an electric/battery screw driver and it was a cinch! It’s very sturdy and will last a lifetime.

    Pricey, but SUPER!
OK, so this set is a bit more expensive than it’s plastic counterparts. And more pricey than Little Tike’s other wooden table (the Hudson), but that extra expense is WELL justified!

This table (and the matching chairs) are not only beautiful but sturdy as well! The light wood finish compliments all types of decor. The light coating of finish on the table and chairs make clean up a breeze, which is a huge plus in my book! These are sturdy, well made pieces of furniture which your toddler and children can beat up without you worrying about paint chipping.

It is perfectly proportioned for young children. My nearly 3 year old daughter, who is 38 inches tall, sits at this table comfortably. Her 6 year old cousin, who is 51 inches tall, also fits at this table comfortably!

We would buy from this collection again in a heartbeat and would (and have!) recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful, sturdy, functional table and chairs set for their little ones!

    Somnolent Bliss
After spending a considerable amount of time researching alarm clocks on the internet, I settled on the Sangean RS-330 as a replacement for the low quality inexpensive alarm clocks I’ve used throughout the first 30 years of my life. I’ve had this thing for a month or so now, and I’m quite impressed.

The sound quality, as far as clock radios go, is definitely above par. Falling asleep to NPR music or the BBC world service is like a lullaby for me with the Sangean’s sleep timer enabled. The slowly increasing volume level upon wake up is an excellent way to start ones day. In my opinion, this is perhaps the best feature. I’m a very sound sleeper, and this unit has never failed to awaken me, unlike previous alarm clocks.

Operating this unit couldn’t be much simpler after spending a few minutes perusing the instruction manual. The buttons seem to me to be well laid out and easy enough to locate and operate in the dark with a bit of practice. The display is perfectly adequate, allowing me to see the time without my glasses. Not too bright, and not too dim once adjusted to my liking. As other reviewers have pointed out, the display brightness adjustment potentiometer can be damaged if you’re too rough with it. I had no problem making the adjustment with the screwdriver on my Swiss army knife, which happened to be conveniently located on my nightstand. It’s unlikely that I’ll ever touch it again.

I can see how the cost of the RS-330 could scare away some potential buyers. While value is certainly subjective, I’m extremely happy with my purchase and feel that the cost is justified.

    broke down in 3 days
I had brought this because the store salesperson said it was made by the people who made the Proton. I’ve never heard of the Proton so I assumed he’s trying to tell me its a good deal, so I bought it. The sound was pretty good but not as good as the replacement I got (XDR-S3HD). See my review on that one. The RS-330 comes with a dual alarm and a 5 minute snooze. Which had everything I was looking for. But after 3 days the sound went. I’ve tried hitting the reset button and leaving it unplugged for a few hours but the sound never returned. Actually there is sound but it was extremely low. Volume at max did nothing and the only reason I can hear any sound was by setting the treble all the way up and having my ear close to the speaker. Grabbing the radio was a bit difficult because it was hard not to press a button by accident.

If the Proton was a good product then this is it’s inferior relative. From other reviews, it looks like you’ll take a gamble on this one. It’ll either work or not. My guess is it’s produced in different countries so the quality depends on the country it is produced. Mine was manufactured in August 2007 but It doesn’t tell me where.

    Sangean Digital AM/FM Clock Radio
I purchased this radio about two months ago to replace my Proton R5A. The Proton still worked but the LED went out and repairing was not an option because of the cost. Besides, Proton radios are no longer available. I chose the RS-330 because the specs were close to the R5A. To my surprise, it looked and felt the same. The RS-330 buttons were slightly larger and not as clean looking as the R5A but the unit is well built and solid.

For a clock radio, the Sangean RS-330 has very good sound. I listen to a lot of AM talk radio so the clarity of the spoken voice is important. I also listen to some FM but don’t think I’ll need to get the companion stereo component. For serious sound filling stereo FM, I’ll listen to my sound system. Overall this radio sounds much better than the vast majority of clock radios on the market and provides very good sound at normal listening levels.

Thank goodness, I don’t have the hum other reviewers mentioned. The LED display is nice and slightly larger than the Proton R5A. I can easily adjust it for my bedroom at night. The buttons are well arranged and the different shapes are nice for night operation. The true test was finding stations in the middle of the night without turning on the light and waking your companion.

I recommend this unit if you want a good looking AM/FM Clock Radio that sounds good, easy to use and fits nicely and looks handsome on your night stand. Even the price is reasonable.

    Sangean RS-330 digital radio
Radio has very good sound. and tuning is easy. Can’t believe time does not say am-pm on the clock face. Took trial and error to set the alarm as did not know if it was set for 8am or 8pm. Alarm is also very soft, need to set another alarm if I really need to get up.

this is the one to own
This is a replacement for the great Protron clock radio. They have more than met the challenge. It is feature rich, easy to use, and has a great display. It is easy to set up and has good fidelity. By far this is the best clock radio I’ve ever owned. I haven’t tried the satellite piece, but look forward to adding it on. The only issue to concern yourself with is the footprint, not a huge unit, but not small either.
