    DeNiro & Iron’s Mission
I first saw this thought-provoking film on the big screen in 70mm and believed it to be one of the best films of the 80’s. Unfortunately the film opened to disappointing business in the U.S. but did much better in Europe (It received a Golden Palm at Cannes). DeNiro and Irons each give excellent performances of 2 men caught in conflict over the problems of church vs state in the colonization of the tribes in the Americas. Many people thought this to be a religious film but it is far more than that. Rather to divulge a lot about the plot, I would rather imply that this film is a triumph in the sense that it is action filled spectacle that makes us think rather than just entertain us. It’s too bad that director Roland Joffe has descended nowadays to doing a slasher film with an American actress (Elisha Cuthbert). Anyway do see this film for the direction, the stars and of course, the evocative score by Ennio Morricone who should’ve won the Oscar that year.

    My thoughts on The Mission
I had to watch this moving in a spanish class I took in college. I believe the movie has a powerful story of showing how the Spainards and Porgues conquored the indians of Brazil. I think it can relate to England and other European countries conquoring the new world. This moving did make me tear up at the end when they massacured tribes.

The Mission 1986 - Post review
This movie was compelling & full of breathtaking scenery in Columbia which was based upon the Indian tribes in the upper regions high above cascading waterfalls, to be converted by Christianity. Robert De Niro & Jeremy Irons were the leading characters of this beautiful movie which encapsulated the heart in a spellbound though dramatic conclusion. I found that these actors put more emphasis on the culture of the tribes people and their way of life which was combined to give the audience a sense of warm embrace towards the suffering and cruelty acts which occurred between the late 1700’s to the early 1800 year period. A MUST HAVE for any serious Movie Buff who wishes to transcend back in time to a civilization rich & full of culture. 5 Star rating applicable.*****

    The reviewer’s got it wrong!
Tom Keogh’s editorial review got it wrong. This is a magnificent movie. The background is historically accurate. The music, much of which was written by South American composers during the 17th century, is flawlessly performed. The story is gripping, and one comes away with an accurate picture of what was going on at the time. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in many years.

It seems that not many customer reviews agree with Tom Keogh.

    Bravo for “The Mission”
I loved seeing this film again and now having it in my permanent collection. It puts light on a neglected subject - the exploitation and decimation of thousands of Indians in Latin America and the herosim of the Jesuits who tried to save them. I like the extra disk - especially the segment on how the casting of the Guarani was accomplished. De Niro and Irons are outstanding!

    Great Piece of Equiptment
This is the first external hard drive I have ever owned but i’ve used countless differant ones because I wanted to be absolutely sure it was right for me.

This puppy is pretty impressive, not only is it a great amount of storage for such a low price but it’s so dam rugged I feel like I could run over it with a car and it would do more damage to the tires then to itself.

It does get a little hot but nothing to extreme and I REALLY put it through it’s paces when I first got it (alot of backing up and such).

I would recommend this to ANYONE looking for really any amount of storage because for the price it is fantastic.

    Easy to use
The external hard drive was smaller than I had expected and it was easier to hook up as well. Following the instructions on the screen made the whole process of downloading quick and easy. I found it a good value and I am glad to have my computer backed up at last.

    NOT the product pictured here.
The product shown above has an on/off switch, but the unit I received did not. Nor did the replacement item that Amazon quickly sent. I kept it, though, because the price was low and it’s basically silent. I’m docking it one star for not matching up with the product photos.

You Get What You Pay For …
One thing you have to remember when purchasing an item, and subsequently reviewing it, is that you get what you pay for. I bought this drive for $100 in an online auction and it is also relatively cheap elsewhere, which it was designed to be.

This hard drive has its positive and negative aspects, but all-in-all you get what you pay for. I’ll start with what I like about it.

The rubber grips on each end are terrific, and provide a firm placement on whatever surface you put it on. The on/off switch is also a big plus, and as odd as that may seem, I have other external hard drives that do not have that simple luxury. On a far less important note, it looks good and sure beats the bright pink lights on one of my other** WD drives.

As for the downsides, the drive is probably my slowest - and I own more than 10. It also gives me I/O errors every now and then, sometimes randomly without cause, other times because (apparently) the data being transferred is just too much for it to handle. To solve these, I simply hit the on/off switch and reset it. Nonetheless, this can be inconvenient if you are in the middle of something, especially if the computer is unattended at the time of the error.

With all that being said, this is a great economical solution to your storage needs. I would not depend on it as a primary drive and would rather depend on it more for backing-up data and just for some extra space. If you can get it for the price I did, you really can’t go wrong.

    Customer Reviews:
    Quality product
I was looking for mono headset to use with Skype phone on my home laptop. I bought and returned three other headsets made by small companies from Radio Shack and Fry’s. All those had low quality speakers or weak microphones, and also did not sit tight on the ear (dangling). Then I recalled that I already have high quality retractable stereo headset with crisp sound and very good mike at work so I looked at the brand name and it was retractable headset from Emerge Technology. So I went to their website and discovered that they make mono headset also with premium sound so I ordered one from Amazon. It is indeed high quality headset. You can even use it to listen music. Mike is terrific - sound is crisp and clear. The only problem - ear bud does not seat tight on ear, like say on Jabra or other brand name headsets. I would suggest making this ear bud more ergonomic and thenit will be perfect very compact headset. But it still sits much better that other nonbrandname headsets I bought I returned.
